My mother mentioned to me several years ago she would like to visit the nation her family immigrated to America from and I have always kept this in the back of my mind as something I would like to do for her. I was trying to come up with a birthday theme for my sister's big 4-0 party, and I think I stumbled on a good one. She is a health nut and when I found a fruit and nut gift basket, saw that I could use the contents and build around it to carry the birthday idea around fresh food and eating healthy. The whole family loves healthy food, and having some fresh, gourmet fruit and nuts would make fun and edible party decorations. By the way the Portland announcers were hyping up Game 3 in the Rose Garden to be something similar to what we saw during the series opener I would have expected the Blazers to come out with a little more fire then what happened. Immediately the Suns took hold of the game and by the end, I am know positive Phoenix will make the second round of the playoffs. This is cause for celebration. Hopefully it will be all over in Game 5. This is when I plan to start hanging the streamers, purple memorabilia and party decorations. Some of the things stuffed up in my closet are old birthday party supplies but they will work for decking out our apartment.

I am the lucky chap that will be hosting the Father’s Day get together over at my house this year. I have a friend who has two graduates this year, one daughter graduating from high school and her son graduating from college. It will be a big month of May for all of them. When my sister and I were growing up, my mom would always get some birthday party favors for all the guests that came to celebrate our very special day. I'm throwing a birthday party for my husband and we've invited about 10 of his friends and coworkers. I chose a birthday theme of card games, so I'm giving out birthday party favors related to all the different card games like poker. I have a friend who works in a casino in Las Vegas and can get his hands on tons of used decks of cards and he sent me about a dozen decks, so that base is covered. I have discovered that handmade crackers are delicious and since I love to cook, it's easy for me to make them. They are also healthy because I only use natural oils inside them and use as much whole grains as possible. My niece shares a birthday with my cat, and I decided that I'd host her party this year and use a birthday theme of cats and kids. The southwest is heating up in more ways then one as the Phoenix Suns continue their now 9-win streak after defeating the Nets in New Jersey. The Garden State just got a taste of the heat and went home scorched. I never thought it would be possible for Phoenix to make second seed in the Western Conference going into the post but that looks like a great possibility now. Party decorations are in order for such a monumental end to the regular NBA season. Phoenix is not new to the post season but they usually go out the first round. If they can continue this roll for the majority of their 7 games remaining, they will get past the first round. Positive thinking does equal positive results.

I have a couple of online hot spots for party decorations. Don’t want to go crazy just get something colored with purple and orange that shows anyone who walks through our doors just what team this guy is rooting for. One of my relatives had a big decade birthday party not long ago. My aunt who is married to the birthday boy was thinking of a different birthday idea then the over the hill party. She thought of having a surprise party at a central park. She told my uncle that it was just going to be the kids meeting at the park for a picnic. Little did my uncle know that the picnic spot would soon be inundated with friends and family. When he came to the park, it was just his kids and a picnic basket. About a 15 minutes later many of the guests showed up with the birthday party supplies, party decorations and tons of food. My uncle was so shocked to see his friends and family come marching toward his picnic table with birthday décor and a few gifts. It turned out to be a fantastic birthday idea and it was a surprise. With just about ten games left in the regular NBA season, time is ticking down for those in the hunt to secure a higher seed. My team, the Phoenix Suns at the moment is sitting in 5^th place behind the Jazz, Mavericks and Nuggets all tied for second. If all goes perfectly the Suns will take fourth seed and Utah will fall behind. They meet each other in the final game of the regular season so fingers crossed at that point they are tied in the Western Conference. If that occurs there are going to be party decorations for the event. I have some old birthday party favors left over from a previous online purchase and Suns memorabilia from over the years of support.

In all honesty, I don’t think all this will happen because Utah has been playing great. Either way the party decorations are coming out every single post season Phoenix match up. I hope they meet the Thunder first round. This is a good team with young legs but they are new to playoff action. You have got to love this game.

It is the end of March; many of us have paid the taxman and are looking forward to the sunny months ahead. Weather plays a large role on entertainment. There are only so many things a person can do inside before Mother Nature starts screaming in their ear. Like I said in my last post, I’ve thought of a birthday idea that takes advantage of the weather and local surroundings. Not only is it cost effective but it is a great way to relax after a workweek. I’m a huge proponent of getting to know ones surroundings. Living in a city center there are endless gems to uncover. From great new restaurants to concert venues to parks, there is something new to find in every community.

These new finds could work well with a birthday theme. Getting out there and exploring creates ideas through the process of doing. My girlfriend has her 25^th coming up here pretty soon so I have been racking my brain to try and think of birthday themes she would enjoy. Then it hit me, a birthday idea all about fun in the sun. Winter is now behind us and Spring is in the air. It is the season of love, sunshine, outdoor activity and days by the water.
